Matua Valley has been a thriving winery in the Auckland area for the past three decades. In 2001, the Australian conglomerate Beringer Blass (think Foster's) bought controlling interest. Holdings also include Shingle Peak; and in 2002, Ponder Estate was purchased and brought into the fold, as was Hawkesbridge. All are Marlborough properties with the latter two discontinued as brands.
