Felton Road is one of the premier producers of Pinot Noir in New Zealand. The display board in their tasting proudly displays a copy of a review by Robert Parker which changed his outlook on Southern Hemisphere pinot. IMHO it is a lush fully body wine that made me think immediately of the best of Russian River. Don't overlook their other wines either. Their composite rating is just about a perfect 5.
The winery is located in Bannockburn just south of Cromwell. That is about dead center in the middle of the South Island and a junction for the major highways that run through Otago. Nearby wineries include Mt. Difficulty, Olssens of Bannockburn, and Bannockburn Heights.
