Wither Hillis Vineyard is the work of winemaker Brent Marris, a Marlborough native, along with his father John. Focus on quality limited to a short wine list. Shepherd's Ridge began as an export label and has evolved into a single-vineyard second label brand available in NZ and the US. In this case, "second label" does not mean "second-tier". Wither Hills was sold in 2002 to Australian beverage giant Lion Nathan with the Marris team still firmly at the helm.
